A classic soft-hackle wet fly imitating an emerging or drowned Baetis (BWO). A slim olive body suggests the abdomen, while a sparse, mobile collar of partridge or starling pulses in the current to imitate emerging legs and wings. Deadly on the swing or just under the surface during a BWO hatch.
1. Start the Olive Thread and a thin base to the bend.
2. Tie in Gold wire, fine for an optional rib.
3. Dub a slim, tapered Olive Dubbing abdomen, stopping short of the eye.
4. Counter-wrap a few open turns of wire; tie off and trim.
5. Dub a small thorax behind the hackle position.
6. Tie in a Partridge soft hackle by the tip; take 1-2 turns for a sparse swept-back collar; whip finish, head cement.
