A small biot-bodied midge pupa for selective trout feeding on emerging chironomids. The slim goose-biot abdomen gives a crisp segmented profile, while a dark thorax, bright floss collar, and short CDC wing suggest the gathering wingpads and trapped gas of an emerging pupa. Fished in or just under the surface film.
1. Thread base — Lay a smooth base along the shank to the bend.
2. Trailing shuck — Tie in a very short, sparse tag of White Antron Yarn at the bend.
3. Body — Tie in a Brown goose biot by the tip and wrap forward in overlapping turns to two-thirds of the shank for a slim segmented abdomen.
4. Collar — Tie in a short length of Orange Floss and take a couple of turns for a bright collar.
5. Thorax — Dub a small thorax of Black Dubbing in front of the collar.
6. Wing — Tie in a short White CDC Feather over the thorax as a stubby emerging wing.
7. Finish — Build a tiny head, whip finish, head cement.
