Imitates the Blue-Winged Olive (Baetis) dun with a hackleless deer-hair fan wing that floats flush in the film. Without hackle the body sits on the water for a realistic silhouette prized on flat, slow currents. Split tails and a slim olive body complete the dun profile.
1. Start an Olive Thread base.
2. Tie in a 180-degree fan wing of Deer Hair standing upright, about one-third back from the eye.
3. Tie in two split Microfibetts, dun as a divided tail over a small dubbing ball.
4. Dub a slim olive abdomen of Olive Dubbing forward to the wing.
5. Dub a fuller thorax through the wing base to lock it upright.
6. Whip finish, cement.
