Imitates a mayfly that failed to escape its nymphal shuck, stuck helpless in the film — an easy meal during a hatch. This olive/BWO version rides low with a trailing shuck, dubbed abdomen, and buoyant CDC wing. Fish it dead-drift during a Blue-Winged Olive emergence.
1. Start the Olive Thread and wrap to the bend.
2. Tie in a sparse Z-Lon trailing shuck about a shank long.
3. Dub a slim tapered Olive Dubbing abdomen over the rear two-thirds.
4. Tie in a single Dun CDC feather as an upright/forward wing.
5. Build a fuller olive thorax in front of and behind the wing base.
6. Whip finish, head cement.
