A small, flashy imitation of the Baetis (BWO) nymph, a year-round staple. A slim olive body accented with a Krystal Flash wingcase/rib adds the subtle sparkle that triggers takes in clear or pressured water. Fish as a dropper or in a nymph rig.
1. Start the Olive Thread and base to the bend.
2. Tie in 2-3 Pheasant Tail Fibers for a short split tail.
3. Tie in a strand or two of Krystal Flash and a length of Copper Wire at the bend.
4. Dub a slim, tapered Olive Dubbing abdomen to the thorax.
5. Rib forward with open turns of copper wire; tie off and trim.
6. Pull Krystal Flash over the back as a wingcase; dub a fuller thorax; pull wingcase over and tie off; whip finish, head cement.
