A large adult caddis dry imitating the big orange-bodied Dicosmoecus caddis that emerge on rivers in autumn. The bright orange body and elk-hair wing make it a high-floating, visible attractor that draws aggressive strikes during the fall transition.
1. Start the Orange Thread and wrap a base to the bend.
2. Dub a robust, tapered Orange Dubbing body to two-thirds of the shank.
3. Tie in a Brown Hackle by the tip at the front of the body.
4. Stack a clump of Elk Hair one hook length long; tie in as a downwing tent and trim the butts.
5. Wind the Brown Hackle through the front; secure and trim.
6. Build a head, whip finish, head cement.
