A UK stillwater imitation of the chironomid (midge) pupa — the single most important food source on lakes. A "suspended" buzzer hangs in the film/upper column as the pupa ascends to emerge. Defined by a very slim, glossy, tightly ribbed body and contrasting breathers/cheeks at the head representing the gills and wing-buds.
1. Run a smooth, flat Black Thread base well around the bend to keep the body slim.
2. Tie in Silver wire, fine for the rib.
3. Build a slender, lightly tapered abdomen with tight thread wraps.
4. Rib with even open turns of silver wire; tie off and trim.
5. Tie in two short Goose Biots splayed at the sides as wing-buds/cheeks.
6. Dub a small bulbous Peacock Dubbing thorax; add a short white Z-Lon breather tuft.
7. Whip finish; coat the abdomen and thorax with UV Resin for the glossy buzzer finish.
