The third of Flick's Variants — all cream, for the big pale evening mayflies of high summer. A stripped cream quill body under an oversized cream hackle, no wing: at last light, when the golden drakes come off and everything on the water is a silhouette, its high stance and pale glow are exactly enough.
1. Thread base — Attach cream thread and wrap to the bend.
2. Tail — Tie in long, stiff cream hackle fibers, 1.5× hook-shank.
3. Body — Tie in a stripped quill from a large cream hackle. Wind forward in touching turns to the 2/3 point. Varnish while wet.
4. Hackle — Tie in an oversized cream hackle at the 2/3 point. Wind 4–6 turns to just behind the eye — well beyond the gap.
5. Head — Small neat head, whip finish, cement.
