The third of the great North Country spiders. Yellow silk and gray speckled partridge cover the pale mayflies — sulphurs, cahills, pale wateries — anywhere they hatch. Fish it upstream dead-drift like a nymph, then let it swing up at the hang.
1. Thread — Attach yellow silk (or 8/0 yellow thread) behind the eye.
2. Body — Wrap a slim, bare silk body over the rear two-thirds. Optionally dub the front third with the sparsest wisp of hare's fur as a thorax.
3. Hackle — Tie in a gray speckled partridge feather by the tip. Wind 1–1.5 turns, sweep back, secure.
4. Head — Small head, whip finish, cement.
