The Perdigon (Spanish for "pellet") is a euro-nymph built for speed and depth. Its smooth thread body coated in UV resin cuts through current like a stone, reaching fish before they can drift away. Available in olive, black, red, and purple — each targeting different feeding moods.
1. Bead — Thread a black nickel tungsten bead onto the jig hook.
2. Thread base — Attach olive thread just behind the bead and build a smooth, even base to the bend.
3. Tail — Tie in 4–6 Coq de Leon fibers at the bend in a sparse, slightly spread bunch.
4. Rib — Tie in fine silver wire at the bend.
5. Body — Wind olive thread forward in tight, smooth, slightly overlapping turns to build an even, tapered body from the bend to just behind the bead. No dubbing — keep the thread completely flat.
6. Rib — Counter-wind silver wire forward in open spirals. Tie off behind the bead.
7. UV coating — Apply 2–3 thin coats of UV resin over the entire body and cure between each coat. The finished body should be glassy smooth.
8. Finish — Build a small collar of black thread behind the bead. Whip finish and apply head cement.
