1. Thread base — Attach gray thread behind the eye and lay a smooth base to the bend.

2. Tail — Tie in a small bunch of moose body hair fibers at the bend, roughly hook-shank in length. Secure with tight wraps and trim the butts.

3. Wings — At the 2/3 point, tie in two matched grizzly hackle tips upright and divided using figure-eight wraps. Tips should reach to the hook bend.

4. Body — Dub a tapered, slightly rough gray body from the bend up to just behind the wings.

5. Hackle — Tie in one grizzly and one brown hackle directly behind the wings. Wind both forward together, interleaving wraps through the thorax. Tie off behind the eye and trim excess.

6. Head — Build a small, neat head. Whip finish and apply head cement.
