A simple, deadly BWO emerger relying on CDC's natural water-shedding oils to float the fly in the film. The trailing Z-Lon shuck suggests a dun that never quite made it out, which is exactly what selective trout want to eat.
1. Thread base — Attach olive thread to the emerger hook and build a base to the bend.
2. Shuck — Tie in a small bunch of brown Z-Lon at the bend, extending one hook-gap rearward.
3. Abdomen — Dub a slim, smooth olive abdomen from the bend to the 2/3 point.
4. Wing — Tie in two olive CDC feathers by their tips at the 2/3 point, pointing upright. Fold them forward and tie down so they stand as a small upright wing roughly hook-gap in height.
5. Thorax — Dub a slightly fuller olive thorax in front of and behind the wing base.
6. Head — Build a tiny head. Whip finish. Do not apply head cement near CDC — it will mat the fibers.
