A flush-floating BWO emerger using snowshoe rabbit foot hair for the wing. Snowshoe hair is more water-resistant than most materials — it floats in the film naturally without floatant and creates a perfect silhouette. Exceptional during heavy BWO hatches.
1. Thread base — Attach olive thread to the hook and build a base to the bend.
2. Shuck — Tie in a small bunch of brown Z-Lon at the bend, extending one hook-gap rearward.
3. Abdomen — Dub a slim, smooth olive abdomen from the shuck forward to the 2/3 point.
4. Wing — At the 2/3 point, tie in a small clump of snowshoe rabbit foot hair upright, roughly hook-gap in height. The hair should stand loosely — don't compress it too tightly.
5. Thorax — Dub a slightly fuller olive thorax in front of and around the wing base.
6. Head — Build a tiny head. Whip finish and apply head cement away from the wing.
