Edward Hewitt's all-hackle floater: brown hackle palmered nose-to-tail, finished with white turns at the front — visible to the fish (bi-) and to you (-visible). No body, no wing, nothing to sink. Skate it, drift it, drown it and fish it wet; the Bivisible has been un-killable since the 1920s.
1. Thread base — Attach brown thread and wrap to the bend.
2. Tail — Tie in two small brown hackle tips, splayed.
3. Hackles — Tie in 2–3 brown hackles by the tips at the bend.
4. Palmer — Wind the hackles forward in close, touching turns — each butted to the last — to a quarter behind the eye. Tie off each as it runs out.
5. Face — Tie in a white hackle and wind 2–3 turns at the front. Tie off.
6. Head — Small head, whip finish, cement.
