A flush-floating CDC caddis dry that lets CDC's natural water resistance do the heavy lifting. Effective on slow water where standard caddis patterns sit too high and create refusals. Tan and gray match Spotted Sedge and similar summer species; olive and green cover Grannom and Green Rock Worm hatches in spring.
1. Thread base — Attach thread in your chosen color behind the eye and build a base to the bend.
2. Shuck — Tie in a small bunch of Z-Lon at the bend in a complementary color (amber for tan/gray; brown for olive/green), extending one hook-gap rearward.
3. Body — Dub a smooth body in your chosen color from the shuck tie-in to the 2/3 point.
4. Wing — Tie in 2–3 CDC feathers matching the body by their tips at the 2/3 point. Fold the feathers forward and secure them so they angle back over the body at about 45 degrees, tent-style.
5. Thorax — Dub a small matching thorax between the wing base and the eye.
6. Head — Build a tiny head. Whip finish. Do not apply head cement near CDC.
