The parachute version of the Hendrickson offers a flush-floating wing silhouette that's deadly during the first major dry fly hatch of the Eastern season. The pinkish-gray body exactly matches the natural.
1. Thread base — Attach gray thread behind the eye and build a base to the bend.
2. Post — At the 1/3 point, tie in a small bunch of white calf body hair upright. Build tight wraps around the base to keep it vertical.
3. Tail — Tie in a sparse bunch of dun hackle fibers at the bend, one hook-gap in length.
4. Body — Dub a smooth, slightly tapered Hendrickson pink body from the bend up to the post base. The pinkish-gray color matches the female Hendrickson natural.
5. Hackle — Tie in a dun hackle at the base of the post. Wind 4–5 parachute turns descending around the post. Tie off at the base and trim.
6. Head — Build a small head in front of the post. Whip finish and apply head cement.
