Taylor Williams' Renegade is unlike any other fly — a brown hackle collar at the rear, peacock herl body, and white hackle collar at the front. It imitates nothing specific and attracts everything. One of the great Western searching patterns.
1. Thread base — Attach black thread behind the eye and build a base to the bend.
2. Tag — Wrap 3–4 turns of flat gold tinsel at the bend. Tie off.
3. Rear hackle — Tie in a brown hackle just ahead of the tag. Wind 3–4 close turns, sweeping fibers slightly rearward. Tie off.
4. Body — Tie in 2–3 peacock herls. Twist into a rope and wind a full, round body forward to the 3/4 point. Tie off.
5. Front hackle — Tie in a white hackle just behind the eye. Wind 3–4 close turns. Tie off and trim.
6. Head — Build a small, neat head. Whip finish and apply head cement.
