A no-hackle CDC caddis designed for flat tailwater pools where drag and silhouette matter more than floatation. The sparse CDC wing sits naturally in the film while the dubbing body and Z-Lon shuck sell the imitation.
1. Thread base — Attach tan thread behind the eye and build a base to the bend.
2. Shuck — Tie in a small bunch of tan Z-Lon at the bend, extending one hook-gap rearward.
3. Body — Dub a slim tan body from the shuck to the 2/3 point.
4. Wing — Tie in 2 natural CDC feathers at the 2/3 point. The CDC should angle back over the body at about 45 degrees, tent-style. Do not over-dub or soak with floatant.
5. Thorax — Dub a small brown thorax between the wing base and the eye.
6. Head — Build a tiny head. Whip finish. No head cement near the CDC.
