Guy Turck's 1990 Jackson Hole One Fly winner — the attractor that ate the West. Golden pheasant tippet tail, hare's ear body, a calf-and-flash wing under a spun deer muddler head, rubber legs off the sides. Floats a dropper all day, gets eaten on its own all evening.
1. Thread base — Attach tan thread and wrap to the bend.
2. Tail — Tie in a small bunch of golden pheasant tippet fibers.
3. Body — Dub a robust hare's ear body over the rear two-thirds.
4. Wing — Tie in a bunch of white calf tail over the body, tips to the midpoint of the tail; top with a few strands of pearl Krystal Flash and a sparse bunch of natural deer hair.
5. Legs — Tie in one rubber leg per side at the wing tie-down, ends free fore and aft.
6. Head & collar — Spin 2 clumps of deer hair on the front third. Clip muddler-style — flat below, rounded above — leaving a sparse collar.
7. Finish — Whip finish and cement the thread wraps.
