Whether you're fishing a Pale Morning Dun hatch, a Light Cahill emergence, or general tan caddis activity, this pattern's pale yellow body and light ginger hackle give it broad appeal across seasons and water types.
1. Thread base — Start the 8/0 thread, tan and wrap to the bend of the Light Wire Dry Fly Hook.
2. Tail — Tie in a small bunch of Ginger Hackle fibers, about one shank length.
3. Rib (optional) — Tie in a length of Gold wire, fine at the bend.
4. Body — Dub a slim, tapered body of Tan Dubbing forward to two-thirds of the shank.
5. Rib — Counter-wrap the gold wire forward in even turns; tie off and break off the excess.
6. Wing — Tie in the Hen Saddle Feather as an upright/divided wing at the front third.
7. Hackle — Tie in a Ginger Hackle and wind several turns through the thorax around the wing base; tie off and trim.
8. Finish — Build a small head, whip finish, head cement.
