The parachute variation of the Adams offers better visibility and a flush-floating wing silhouette. A go-to when fish are being selective.
1. Thread base — Attach gray thread behind the eye and build a base to the bend.
2. Parachute post — At the 1/3 point, tie in a small bunch of white calf body hair upright. Build tight wraps around the base to keep it vertical — the finished post should stand about one hook-gap tall.
3. Tail — Tie in a small bunch of moose body hair fibers at the bend, hook-shank length.
4. Body — Dub a slender, tapered gray body from the bend up to the post base.
5. Hackle — Tie in one grizzly and one brown hackle at the base of the post. Wind both parachute-style around the post in descending turns. Tie off at the base and trim excess.
6. Head — Build a small head in front of the post base. Whip finish and apply head cement. Trim the post to one hook-gap height if needed.
